Requirement

As part of the connection of a 63/20 kV transformer station supplying a gas compression plant, CAP-SIM investigated the risk of ferroresonance on the site

Realization

An initial theoretical characterization step of the risk on the site was performed (analytical approach).

Next, the various pieces of equipment which have an influence on the ferroresonance risk were modelled using an electromagnetic-transient analysis software. In particular, thorough modelling of the transformer was undertaken in collaboration with the manufacturer in such a way as to precisely represent the saturation and remnant flux phenomena.

As a function of the structure of the power grid, simulation was used to identify the risk configuration and conditions, and a risk analysis was formalized.

Results

Several solutions have been proposed, from both an operating and design point of view, allowing the appearance of ferroresonance on the power grid to be avoided.
