Requirement

As part of a gas compression plant installation project, the customer needed to validate and justify the sizing of the earth network in a way that complied with the standard in force for the step and touch voltages.

Realization

To begin, dedicated software was used to create a model of the ground from resistivity measurements carried out on the site.

CAPSIM then performed step and touch voltage calculations and checked that at no point in the sector did the values exceed the limits imposed by standard IEEE 80 2000.

Finally, the grid layout and sizing of the earth circuit was realized in such a way that the step and touch voltages are always below the acceptable values.

Results

The performance of the analysis, the results and the conclusions of the study were presented to the customer in a document on which he will be able to rely during the on-site realization.
